The CAPE Office is pleased to announce that a new CAPE Partnership Agreement (CPA) came into effect on 1 April 2011. It has already been endorsed by four companies, each internationally important within the supply chain for electronics and photonics, who have now become CAPE Partners with the University of Cambridge.
The current CAPE Partner companies are Alps Electric Co., Ltd, (in electronics devices and components manufacture), Disney Research (in the field of media and entertainment), Dow Corning Corporation (in silicon based materials and services) and Jaguar Land Rover (in connection with automotive development and manufacture). Alps and Dow Corning were CAPE Partners in the first CAPE phase.
Encouraged by the successes achieved during the first phase of CAPE, interest in continuing their association in this new phase has also been confirmed by Carl Zeiss NTS Ltd, who under their previous name of Carl Zeiss SMT were a CAPE Associate in the field of Electron Beam Imaging.
With other international companies also showing a level of interest in joining CAPE over the coming months, CAPE looks forward to a new and exciting future, building on its past success with increased synergy and an enhanced vision for research, business development and outreach.
Professor Bill Milne (CAPE Director) says that “We would like to continue building up CAPE’s success with a vision based on its core spirit and provide a world centre of excellence to deliver business viable technology from scientific concept to demonstrator through academic-industrial collaborations at Cambridge.”
According to Dr Daping Chu (CAPE Chairman), this will provide not only a communication platform for CAPE partners to access technical knowledge and business information distributed over the value chain of the global electronics and photonics industry through not only internal interaction between the partners but also external engagement to key knowledge holders in fields outside the CAPE community, but also a focus point to create opportunities for all partners through brand building, technology demonstration, outreaching to and networking with the global community.
